Pitt County Schools has been a county-wide consolidated system since July 1, 1986

Pitt Community College (PCC) offers technical skill training, 2 year college transfer, 2 year technical, one year vocation, short term certificate program and a continuing education program

East Carolina University is the third largest university in the State (22,760+ enrollment)
The Brody School of Medicine at ECU offers a four year Medical Doctor degree as well as six PhD programs

Pitt County has experienced record growth over the past decade comparable to several of the largest metropolitan counties in the state. Greenville, the county seat, is the largest municipality in northeastern North Carolina. Several other towns are located throughout the county, hence strong community support for education is prevalent.
Pitt County is served by a public school system, as well as many excellent private parochial and non-parochial schools. The county is abundant with advanced education opportunities including a medical school which is part of East Carolina University.
